Who had cried all her tears in his arms when he had left. Looking for that small little girl of four who had liked to hug his neck and let him push her on the swing. ![]() Mike smiled, judging it might be the best reaction. “What’s the Wi-Fi code?” She looked at him, her voice sharp. That word like a knife, but Mike’s face didn’t move. ![]() She blew her chewing-gum, blasting a huge pink bubble. Mike shrugged, trying to find his voice which had drowned in his emotions. He swallowed, watching that young girl, almost fourteen, tall, her hand on her hips now, her dark jeans hugging her long legs, an almost too short pink T-shirt on top. He gingerly put the two suitcases down and waited for her to face him. ![]() Mike watched that stranger with her long hair in a ponytail, her hand holding her phone tight, her eyes roaming the living room, the thick honey-colored logs hugging them with warmth. “I warn you, I’m only staying for a month, just because Mum has this trip to do.” ![]()
